If you are a mom, you are most likely familiar with Cake Smash Photo Sessions. Typically, these sessions take place in a studio with a set design, backdrop… , but in my opinion, it is just beyond awesome if baby can smash the birthday cake at home. This way, everything is so more real.

On the other hand, I believe the first birthday celebration is for the family as well, so it is nice to include family in the images.

I had a pleasure to document fresh 48 session at Mount Sinai hospital in Toronto when baby A was born a year ago, so when his mommy told me about in-home family and cake smash photos I was so happy that I can meet them again after a year to capture their family and also the one year old celebration at the same time. We started with some family pictures in-home and in the backyard, followed with cake smash, then kitchen sink bath. By the way, the bath in the kitchen sink was not in our original plan; mommy and me decided to do it at the day of the photo session. It was totally fun for baby A and his older brother.
