11 Nursery Design Ideas for Every Parents

One of the best part of photographing a family with a newborn is to walk to the baby’s nursery and see the love each parents shown by designing their baby’s room. When I talk to them about the process of their newborn nursery, they all shar the story of few months spent during pregnancy to plan, buy and decorate everything. It is lots of work designing the baby’s room but it is all with joy and love.

I have decided to share the nursery designing tips and ideas. These are all ideas I saw and photographed during newborn/ family sessions. I hope new parents find the photos and ideas helpful.

  1. Bold colors & patterns

This nursery was one of my favourite of all time. Use of bold colors & patterns are signature design in this nursery. The room was decorated for a baby girl and the flower patterns of bedding sheet or curtains all make the room girly and pretty.

2. Stay with same color tone

This baby boy room was different shades of blue and grey. Same colors of wall and even wall Arts made the room very elegant and visually appealing.

3. DIY

No one said you have to buy everything for your baby’s room. If you have artistic taste and enjoy DIYs, use your creativity for unique design and look.

This is a friend of mine who I had a pleasure to photograph their pregnancy and newborn photos and I honestly loved when I found out mom painted mountains on the wall and made the wall Arts herself. DIY made the nursery so unique.

4.Stick with a theme

This nursey was so tiny but mom really did a good job using every corner and space decorating with the “ Sea theme”. Whale wallpaper, Octopus soft toy, Whale night lamps, the big wall Art on top of the crib were all made the baby’s room so stand out.

The Wall Art: “ If Love were water, I’d gave you the sea. “

5.Use siblings Art pieces

I photographed a newborn session with two older siblings and I saw mommy and daddy used their older children painting and crafts to decoarte their newborn room. How sweet this idea is!

6.Keep it neutral and simple

7.Modern & practical

I loved the stand book shelves placed on the floor so baby could easily take the book she wanted.

8. IKEA storage system

We all know IKEA has one of the best storage systems for baby’s toys, books, photo displays while it is on budget. Their Scandinavian minimalist design is great for many tastes.

9.Use your baby’s dresser as a changing table

For the first 4-5 months after your baby is born, you need a constant place to change diapers and so you want to be comfortable during this routine care. Taking advantage of your baby’s dresser as a changing table is a great idea until the time you put some beautiful photo frames and decorative lamp on the dresser.

10. Wallpaper

Huge painted wallpapers can make the room stand out and most probably it is an easiest way to design your baby’s room, since the rest of the room can stay pretty simple with solid color.

11. Sophisticated design
